IMPORTANT: Balmoral School Casino on November 21-22

Balmoral School is volunteering at Pure Casino Calgary (1420 Meridian Drive NE) on Tuesday, November 21 and Wednesday, November 22. To make this casino possible, we need many volunteers from our school! You do not need to have a police clearance to volunteer at the casino.

If you would like more information about the volunteer roles at the casino, please see the document under Resources. There are experienced casino advisors at each shift to help volunteers learn the roles.

You do not need volunteer clearance and training is provided at the beginning of your shift. No experience necessary! That means all parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc are eligible to volunteer. This is the school's biggest fundraiser, and your help will make it a success!

Student Voice Council (SVC)

Thank you to all of our student candidates who have applied for an SVC leadership position this year. Elections will be held on Tuesday, October 10 in Homerooms. Successful candidates will be announced Wednesday morning.

We are proud of ALL of our students who are running for a position. Regardless of the result of the elections, all students will be invited to join various sub-committees throughout the year, to help plan events and raise school spirit.

Grade 9 Camp Evergreen – Parent Meeting

Thank you parents who came to the initial parent meeting this week. If you were not able to make the meeting, a second meeting will be held on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 12 at 6:00pm. This will be an IN-PERSON meeting at Balmoral School in ROOM 19 (basement) so that you can receive all of the relevant information for the trip and have a chance to ask questions. If you came to the first meeting, you do not need to attend the second meeting. Please contact Ms. Ernst at uyernst@cbe.ab.ca if you have questions about the meeting.
The Grade 9 team is planning an overnight camp for all grade 9 students from November 20-23 this year, at Camp Evergreen. This is an excellent facility where students will get to experience various activities such as horseback riding, ropes course, archery, and science at the lake. The cost for this trip will be maximum $400, including all food, accommodation and activities.

Art Club for Grades 7-9 Students

Love to draw, paint or just doodle? Looking to explore artistic techniques in creating something beautiful? Come join Mrs. Wrobel and Ms. Rahman’s Art Club Mondays at lunch! This club is for grade 7, 8 and 9 students.  Please sign up on the signup sheet in front of Room 14 before October 13 - spaces are limited (due to materials) so names will be drawn lottery style if needed.  Our first Art club meeting will be Monday October 16 in Room 14. Students in Art Club must bring their lunch to school on Art Club days – there will not be enough time to go off-campus and participate in Art Club.

Quebec Trip

A reminder that parent interest forms for the Quebec Trip are due to Mme. Turner by October 10. This is an incredible opportunity for our students to expand the learning from school into the real world. Please email jlturner@cbe.ab.ca if you have any questions about the trip.
