Good afternoon Balmoral families

Students enjoyed celebrating Halloween and Diwali at school this week, and participating in their buddy class Escape Room activity. If your child would like to celebrate a significant date or holiday at school, please ask them to talk to Ms. Keet or Mrs. Vijairaghavan. We will find a way to honour their request in an authentic way at school.

Please read the newsletter carefully as it contains important information that impacts all students.

Construction Impact on Grade 7 and Grade 9 Camp Buses

Construction is ongoing on 2nd street at the time of writing this newsletter. We are hoping that the road crews will be able to complete this project over the weekend, however there is no guarantee this will be done. We will check in again Monday morning and see how the work is going.

We do have two camps leaving on Monday morning (Grade 7 band camp and Grade 9 Camp Evergreen). The buses for these trips may be stopped farther north along 2nd street if the construction is ongoing. If 17th Ave is still inaccessible, please drop off your child near 18th Ave or along 1st Street. There will be many cars so please be quick with morning drop off, and follow traffic rules.

Reporting Absences/Lates

There are 2 ways to report absences or lates for students:

  1. Email balmoral@cbe.ab.ca (PREFERRED METHOD) with the following information:
    • Student first and last name
    • Student’s homeroom (5-1, 7-3, etc)
    • Reason for absence
  2. Call 403-777-7330 and press “1” for the Attendance line. Leave a message with the same information as above and also the SPELLING of the student’s full name.

Please ensure you use one of the contact methods above and NOT emailing the child’s teacher. If you need to pick up your child from school early, please call us 10 minutes in advance and we can get them ready for you.

Next School Council Meeting

Our next school council and parent society meetings will be on Thursday, November 7 at 6:30pm. This meeting will be held IN-PERSON at Balmoral School. We encourage all parents to attend and be part of important decision-making that impacts all Balmoral students.

Please take a moment to provide your contact information to school council. Don’t miss out on important communication about school events organized by parents!
