Good afternoon Balmoral families

Thank you all for another great week at school. Highlights from this week included bus character circles, hot chocolate sales, and our engaging guest speaker – Leo Barbe. All students enjoyed an energizing and informative presentation about taking responsibility for your choices in life (good and bad), overcoming mental health challenges, being true to yourself, and positive online behaviour.

Please read the newsletter carefully as it contains important information that impacts all students.

Winter Weather is Here

What a change in weather we had this week! Please ensure your children are dressed for the weather EVERY DAY. If it is too cold/snowy outside, often our physical education classes remain indoors. However, students are still expected to go outside at lunch recess time for about 20 minutes each day. The fresh air is good for all of us and we need to be prepared for the cold! Students will go outside until it is about -17 degrees (including wind chill).

Please ensure your child has (every day):

  • WINTER JACKET
  • WARM GLOVES/MITTENS
  • WINTER HAT/TOQUE
  • INDOOR SHOES

It is also recommended that they have WINTER BOOTS and SNOWPANTS if they get cold easily. **Winter boots cannot be worn for physical education activities – students must have appropriate indoor shoes for this.

Pop-Up Mini Book Fair from November 25 - 28

We are holding a mini book fair in the school library next week! There will be books, bookmarks, posters, etc for sale for very reasonable prices ($1-$5). Please send some cash with your child to school next to purchase items – all proceeds go towards buying more books for the library! Students will be able to go to the Learning Commons to purchase items between 8am – 11:30am Monday – Thursday with their teacher’s permission.

The book fair will be open to parents on Thursday evening during parent teacher conferences as well (4-8), depending on how much stock is left to sell! Please drop by the library if you are planning on being at school on Thursday evening.

The book sale is cash only. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
