Good afternoon Balmoral families,
At this time, the CBE is preparing for an Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) strike beginning on Monday, Oct. 6. Here is what this means for CBE families:
All classes will be cancelled. Do not send your child to school.
Transportation will be cancelled. Do not leave your child at a bus stop.
Other information:
- All school athletics, trips and extracurricular activities will be suspended or cancelled for the month of October. This includes soccer and basketball team practices and games.
- Students WILL HAVE ACCESS to their google classrooms and D2L during labour action.
- Specifically for Balmoral students – Grades 5 and 6 swimming lessons are being rescheduled to 2026.
- Next week’s fun lunches from Edo Japan have been cancelled and will be rescheduled once school operations resume.
- AHS vaccinations and photo retakes have been cancelled and will be rescheduled once school operations resume.
- Teachers and school administration will be unavailable during labour action.
- Fees paid at the school for activities that have been cancelled may be adjusted once the strike concludes.
The Alberta government has made financial and learning resources available to families:
- To access funds, eligible parents must create an account online. Registration and verification can be completed online.
- Families can also access a learning resources toolkit on the government’s website.
We are committed to keeping you informed as the situation evolves. If anything changes before Oct. 6, families will be informed. The most up-to-date information can also be found on the labour action page.
Casino Fundraiser | Important Reminder
WE NEED YOUR HELP! Please sign up to volunteer at the casino to support Balmoral School!
The Parent Society of Balmoral School (a specifically registered group) applies for and orchestrates this event. We are so fortunate to have a massive fundraiser every few years – the casino generates about $70,000 for the school to use on major projects, residencies, CTF supplies, physical education equipment, and more!
Please help out on Monday, October 20 & Tuesday, October 21. The shifts are from 11:00am to 4:00am. There are lots of options available. 25 volunteers are needed each day to fill all the shifts. Please click on this link to pick your shift: Sign Up
