Balmoral Newsletter - December 8, 2023
Good afternoon Balmoral families,
Thank you to all families who attended our Celebrations of Learning this week. It was wonderful to see so many friendly faces in the school. We appreciate your support of our music/band program and hope you had a chance to see what your children have been learning so far this year.
Changing Weather Conditions
Weather conditions are changing rapidly! It is getting colder each week and students must be prepared to outside every day. Please remind your children to bring their winter clothing to school and be prepared for changing conditions. Students are expected to outside each day (except when the temperature is below -20C). All students should have outdoor shoes or winter boots, as well as indoor shoes they can keep in their lockers.
Purdy’s Chocolate Orders
We know many families are eagerly awaiting for their chocolates to arrive. We will let you know once the shipment is received and when you can pick up your chocolates from the school. We can also send chocolates home with your children if you give them permission for this.
December School Events
As we speed our way into the holiday season this year, there are a few great school events coming up that we would like to inform you about. Our Student Voice Council has decided to participate in the Calgary Immigrant Womens’ Foundation’s Adopt-a-Family program this year. Balmoral School has adopted THREE families and we are responsible for purchasing food and gifts for the holidays this year. Some of the events listed below will raise funds for this worthy cause.
December 11 – Toonie for Casual/Hat – bring $2 on these Mondays to give to your homeroom teachers if you are wearing casual clothes and/or a hat!
Every Tuesday and Thursday until winter break – Hot Chocolate sales in the Foods Room at lunch. Hot Chocolate is $1.50/cup. Students in Grades 7/8/9 can purchase in the first half of lunch, and students in Grades 5/6 can purchase in the second half of lunch.
